Whenever I greet Charlie, I always get the same response. “So how are you doing today Charlie?”, To which he replies, “Well, every day on the surface is a good day!” Without even realizing it, Charlie is practicing a fundamental wellness principle. It is often called the “attitude of gratitude.”

Whether you realize it or not, we all create our own reality from our prevailing thoughts. Your reality can be pleasant or not so pleasant. If your thoughts are on not having what you want instead of setting yourself up for disappointment and ultimate failure.

Why?

It is a basic law of the universe that the similar attracts the similar. It can work for you or against you. Charlie figures that being alive instead of six feet below pushing daisies is definitely a good thing. He has a great appreciation for the life that comes with age and is grateful for each day that he is still around to enjoy.

Be thankful for where you are in your life right now. By doing so, you begin to attract more good things from your life. Of course, you should always continually strive to want more and wish for greater things in life. That is what clearly makes us human and drives us forward. Be deliberate in your intention and always have a strong sense of appreciation. Focus and expect more of what is working and empowering in your life rather than what is wrong.

It took me a long time to truly understand why an “attitude of gratitude” was so important in helping me manifest the reality I wanted. As you accept the present and develop a deep sense of appreciation for where you are now, you will begin to raise your vibration and your level of well-being. Only then can you move on to bigger and better things in your life.
