When you look at all the cities in England, chances are you never think of Fleetwood. It is a town that is located in Lancashire and is known primarily as a deep sea fishing area. At least until the industry experienced a huge decline during the 70’s. Now it is more of a tourist area that is visited by many every year.

Settlers have been in this area for many years, some evidence has been found showing that they date back to 2 AD. C. Still more evidence has been found along the River Wyre showing that Danish settlers were in this area around the 9th and 10th centuries.

There are many great things to see in the city of Fleetwood. One of which is Mt. It is a seven acre park that backs onto the boardwalk. The inner wall is built in the Fylde style and with shingle. It is a site to see and originally built on Tup’s Hill.

Another must-see in the area is the Fleetwood Pier. Although most of it was destroyed in 2008 by a fire. Once one of the shortest piers located in England at only 492ft long. Sadly all that remains of it has been demolished, although pictures of the pier in its heyday are quite impressive.

Three lighthouses also order the coasts of this place. You should also check them out for something that has helped many ships stay off shore in the past. While the Fleetwood Museum will help you look into this area’s past and see what you can no longer see but in pictures.

A mostly Victorian architecture touches this city in the buildings. They are fabulous to look at and give you a glimpse of what times might have been like during those years. Check out Fleetwood for something new and exciting to do.
