In the far north of Northern Ireland lies Portrush – Co. Antrim. Portrush is a seaside resort in County Antrim that is the subject of fond memories among the older Irish. The city has a population of approximately 8,000 in this university town. This is indeed the place to spend a great holiday in Ireland, with sandy beaches, famous golf courses. The Open Championship was held at the Royal Portrush Golf Club.

The largest amusement park in Ireland is located in Portrush. You will also find a large indoor holiday park with various water entertainment facilities including sprinklers, jacuzzis, water cannons and water troughs. This resort is aptly named Waterworld and is popular with young and old alike.

The Giant’s Causeway and the proximity of the glorious mile-long peninsula, the Causeway Coast, are two of Portrush’s main attractions. Golden sandy beaches and a calm sea attract many visitors to this beautiful area, which is busy all year round. Surfers love the beach, which has some of the best surf breaks in Ireland.

Portrush’s nightlife offers something for every member of the family. From restaurants to authentic Irish pubs, you’re sure to find entertainment. Nightclubs are often entertained by some of the UK’s best DJs.

Near Portrush is Dunluce Castle, which was formed when the sea cut through the rock. This is one of the most romantic and picturesque castles in Ireland. However, one tragic night, during a storm, part of the kitchen broke loose and fell into the sea along with all the kitchen staff. The hole is still there, dark and empty. Tours are available, but be sure to book in advance.

Other attractions in County Antrim include the Bushmills Museums and Bushmills Distillery Tours, Castle Arcade, Sportsland Amusement Arcade, Fantasy Island and Flutters Amusements. Portrush – Co. Antrim is definitely one of the top tourist places one must visit in Ireland.
