With all the pressing issues this nation and the rest of the world seem to be facing, on a regular basis, one of the challenges America is currently facing is moving forward, moving forward, considering a variety of factors. , while prioritizing the most urgent, time-sensitive ones, and moving forward, responsively and proactively. Too often, we witness politicians, who are elected, as public officials/leaders, seemingly putting their perceived agenda, personal/political and/or self-interest, before the real best interests of the country (and the planet). Although there are many, this article will attempt, briefly, to consider, examine, revise, and discuss 5 of the most pressing priorities.

1. Protect all constitutional guarantees: If this nation is to remain the voice of freedom and democracy for the rest of the world, we must do so consistently, protecting all constitutional guarantees, rather than simply doing so on a convenient and self-serving basis. ! The United States needs to protect, among other rights: freedom of expression; Free and independent press; Freedom of Religion, etc When some emphasize so-called 2nd Amendment Rights, while others downplay, what does this indicate? In recent years, we have witnessed an explosive increase in the number of crimes involving guns, yet politicians continue to refuse to create any kind of sensible controls. For example, if we register cars and driver’s licenses, wouldn’t it make sense to register weapons and require physical and mental health and competence to own and maintain a weapon?

two. Climate and Environment: We must consider ourselves as the guardians of the planet, protecting it, to transfer a world, with clean air and water, etc., to future generations! Simply because it can be challenging does not mean that addressing Climate Change, sooner rather than later, responsibly, is not urgent! How can we protect health, etc., without clean air and water, which requires environmentally responsible leadership?

3. Unify/ Common Ground/ Meeting of Minds: Our leaders must prioritize the unification of all of us, seeking the greater/common good, to address and achieve a meaningful and unifying meeting of minds!

Four. Balance of powers: We need a Balance of Powers, between three, co-equal, branches of government, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches! In recent years, we have seen what appears to be a concerted effort to blur these lines.

5. Separation of church and state: Our Founding Fathers felt, emphatically, that while there should be protections, granting religious rights, there should be no state religion, and people should have the right to practice their specific religious beliefs or abstain, as they wish. ! We have witnessed, some, who unduly seek this separation!

Wake up, America, and demand that you, the public, elected officials, put the greater good ahead of your personal/political agenda and/or self-interest! Are you willing to demand, more and better, those we elect?
