Your wedding day will probably be considered one of the most important days of your life. Getting all the extensive plans worked out is critical to the relative success of the day. The day can be overwhelming as everything from attractions, food, guests, venue and especially finances must be considered. One of the most important elements of the whole day are the flower arrangements. While many people wouldn’t think this is a big deal, flowers require extensive planning and can often make a wedding party a financial crush.

Let’s consider some helpful tips that can prevent a wedding flower disaster from happening.

overprepare:

Choosing your florist well in advance of the wedding is key! Since, in most cases, flowers are priced and chosen according to the season, wedding florists need a fair amount of time to plan their heavy schedules. You’ll want to make sure the florist doesn’t overbook you and accept a down payment to confirm your business.

Make sure everything from flower type, color, size, arrangement, quantity is correct and in the process of being accounted for. Arguably the morning of the big day is the biggest stressor, so a lot of preparation needs to go into this morning.

Be careful with lilies:

Lilies are one of the most popular choices for flowers on the big day. They are chosen based on their appearance and fragrance, specifically the Stargzers, but the pollen from these can be challenging. If some of this pollen were to fall on the bride’s white dress, you would most likely see a large orange spot. This is the ultimate bridal mess, and even worse, it’s incredibly difficult to pull out of the fabric. The florist, or you, should cut or remove the pollen from the bride’s bouquet so as not to cause a mess on the dress.

Moment:

The worst that could happen, time-wise, on the wedding day would be to arrange the flowers too early. At the time of receipt, they may be lifeless. Any flowers that should not be placed in water should be done and arranged that morning to detract from limp and drooping flower displays. A mister is also something that will come in handy on the day of the adventure, helping the flowers look fresh with drops of water. Sometimes the florist will spray the arrangements with a special preservative to reduce water loss and lifeless flab.
