Many musicians are literally throwing their money down the drain.

I’m not talking about that wonderful new guitar pedal you just bought… but those promotional posts on Facebook.

I know Facebook promo posts are popular and many musicians use them, but they’re not really the best way to promote your music.

And you are actually wasting your money and you don’t get everything you pay for.

There are 2 reasons why you want to use a Facebook ad to promote your music.

The first is obviously to get in front of as many people as possible.

But the second reason is to start collecting data and statistics about the performance of your ads. You also want to start building your own custom lists within Facebook of people who interact with your ads and could be potential fans.

When you use a boost post, you don’t get those options to create custom lists and view in-depth data and analytics.

So basically you are spending money and you only get half of what you pay for.

Worse yet, if you don’t set up custom lists within Facebook, you lose the ability to communicate with the people who interacted with your ad.

So let’s say you’re promoting a music video that you can’t reach the people who viewed 50% or more of your video. And these are people who are likely to become true fans if you take the time to build your relationship with them.

The way to successfully run Facebook ads is to create a Facebook business account. It is completely free and takes about 2 minutes to set up. You can then create your ad campaigns and ads within the business manager and get access to all the data and custom lists.

And once you’ve created those custom lists THEN and ONLY then you can use a boost post to reach out to those smaller groups of people. Maybe with a Facebook live or an ad to promote a new album or single.

So please! Stop wasting your hard-earned money on Facebook boost posts. Set up a Facebook business account and conquer the world! It’s free, easy, and if your goal is to build a large, engaged fan base, it’s going to help you a lot.

If you want to build your fan base, grow your relationship with fans and sell your music with an online system.
