The advantages of having a home gym are numerous. Of course, there’s the fact that if you’re new to the world of exercise, you may not feel comfortable going to your local gym. Where there are sure to be people showing off their muscles and genuinely looking really good. You may find that the privacy of your own home suits you better. Also in your own home you may find that you are more comfortable starting with the lower weights. If you’re using dumbbells, you have to remember to start low and not go over the range. You will get to the heavier weights, but you have to start slowly first.

Another advantage of having a home gym is that you can choose the right equipment for it. If you feel that your legs need more exercise, then you can buy equipment that is better suited for exercising your legs and lower body. Or if your upper body needs more attention than your lower body, then you can buy the equipment that will work out your upper body. Of course, there is the option to mix and match. That means you can buy equipment that will exercise your entire body but use it within reason.

But of course, as stated, there will be downsides to having your own home gym. One drawback is the price of a home gym. The price is never cheap for a home gym, especially if you want to get started right away. You could easily spend in the region of $1000. That’s not petty cash. There are people who have paid double for their home gym, so learn to shop around for the best price before making a purchase decision.

Another disadvantage of having a home gym is the space required. A home gym can take up a lot of space in the home and you need to make sure that you have the right amount of space for your desired gym. Some gyms require a space of about 3 meters on each side. Therefore, you need to make sure that the gym you choose can fit perfectly in the room you want.

In general, having a gym is a good purchase, especially if you want to work out and tone your body. If you can afford a gym then a purchase might be necessary.
