Your body is made up of about 70 percent water. So it’s no surprise that your body needs to be well hydrated to function properly.

Consuming the right amount of water will help keep your energy levels high and increase your metabolic rate.
Drinking more water can also prevent overeating, which will also help you in your weight loss efforts.

The standard recommendation for water consumption is eight 8-ounce glasses a day, or 64 ounces. However, when you add exercise to your daily routine, it’s important to consume more than the standard daily recommendation to replace the water you lose through sweat.

Another added bonus of drinking water and a personal favorite of women everywhere is the fact that it will reduce water retention, also known as bloating.

Here are three tips to make sure you reach your daily water quota.

Tip #1: Make it a habit – If you do something for 21 days, it becomes a habit. A good trick to form the habit of drinking water is to take a drink of water every time you finish going to the bathroom. That way, every time you “empty” you are reminded to refill!

Tip #2: Add Lemon: Although there is nothing healthier for you than a large glass of water, its flavor is natural. A little fresh lemon can fix it and go a long way.

Tip #3: Keep it handy: Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink because by then it’s too late. Always having a bottle of water on hand will prevent this from happening and keep you focused on reaching your daily water quota.
